Rover 8 (First Rover 8)

Automobiles

The first Rover 8 was designed by Edmund Woodward Lewis, who had joined Rover from Daimler, and had an unusual structure, a backbone frame carrying the single cylinder engine and the drive. By 1907 Rover had discontinued the backbone frame in favour of an ash chassis with steel flitch plates. A Daimler Knight sleeve valve engine option was available in 1911 and 1912, a 1052 cubic centimeter unit. Its model years run from 1904 to 1912.
