The first Rover 8 was manufactured from 1904, a small single cylinder 8 horsepower car of 1327 cubic centimeters and Rover's first production car. It was designed by Edmund Woodward Lewis, who had joined Rover from Daimler, and was remarkable for being supported by a backbone frame, an unusual structure for the time. The Rover 8 was the first of the cars from the Coventry company and remained in production until 1912.
