In 2003 Rover made a version of the car with increased ride height and chunkier bumpers, called the Streetwise. R65 manual gearboxes were again carried over from the earlier cars but were superseded by Ford IB5 units in mid 2003. The Rover 25 of 2003 was in its fourth year of the 1999 facelift, built by MG Rover at Longbridge. The Streetwise was a more rugged looking version. The hatchback sat higher than the standard car.
