The R8 Rover 200, sometimes called the Mk 2, was launched on 11 October 1989. Unlike the Mk 1 it was a five door hatchback designed to replace the Maestro, while the saloon variant, the 400 Series, replaced the previous Rover 200 Series when launched in April 1990. The second generation was made in three or five door hatchback forms, as well as a coupe and cabriolet in relatively small numbers. Its model years run from 1989 to 1995.
