The first cars had an entirely new 127 inch wheelbase chassis, which differed considerably from that of the pre war Wraith and was much nearer rigid, with coil sprung independent front suspension at the front and conventional semi elliptic springs and a live axle at the rear. The braking system was a hydro mechanical hybrid of hydraulic fronts and mechanical rears, and in 1947 the Irish Presidential State Car began its service.
