The Silver Cloud II was introduced in 1959, little changed externally but with a new Rolls-Royce developed 6.2 liter V8 engine. Performance was greatly improved and top speed rose to 183 km/h, but the main improvements were in acceleration and torque. Commentators of the time noted that the V8 engined car was neither as quiet nor as smooth as the straight six engined Silver Cloud I. Rolls-Royce Limited built the Series II.
