The Elf's special bumper overriders first appeared in 1962, and the bodies of the Riley Elf were built at Fisher and Ludlow under their Fisholow brand name, with plates in the engine compartment on the right side as evidence of this speciality. Very early Mark I cars had a single piece front wing that was soon given up again, allegedly due to cost. The Elf was built by BMC. The Elf had the Riley grille.
