In 2000 the P38A had the Bosch Motronic V8s of 188 and 218 horsepower and the 2.5-litre BMW diesel. BMW broke up the Rover Group and sold Land Rover to Ford that year, and two V12 prototypes that were developed in the background never reached production. The electronic air suspension offered five ride heights, from Access and Motorway through Standard and Off-Road to an Off-Road Extended setting reached automatically if the chassis was beached.
