In 1991 the Range Rover was the only Land Rover model sold in the United States, where official sales since 1987 had been made under the Range Rover name alone. The car was a four-door with the 3.9-litre Rover V8, which had Lucas 14CUX fuel injection, and a ZF automatic or LT77 manual gearbox, available with a 2.5-litre Turbo D diesel in Europe, and the Discovery, launched in 1989 on its chassis, was in its third year.
