The Range Rover's nose was revised in 1986, with a plastic grille with horizontal slats, an optional front valance with two fog lights, lowered seat bases and redesigned door handles. The petrol engine changed from carburettors to Lucas electronic fuel injection, improving performance and economy, and the Range Rover received its first factory diesel, the 2.4-litre VM Motori Turbo D, offered as an option in the heavily taxed European markets.
