In 1980 the Range Rover's suspension was lowered by 20 millimetres to reduce body roll, and anti-roll bars were later added. The Swiss firm Monteverdi showed a four-door conversion at the Geneva Salon in 1980 which Land Rover approved so that it kept the warranty, and it became the basis for the company's own four-door Range Rover the following year. Rover car production ended at Solihull, leaving the plant to Land Rover.
