When the G6 was introduced as a 2005 model it had two trim levels, the base V6 and the sportier GT, both using a 3.5 liter pushrod V6 producing 200 horsepower and 220 pound feet of torque. Matched to a four speed automatic, the GT featured TAPshift, where the driver could select the gears manually. The base models were well equipped with power locks, windows and mirrors, keyless entry, a six speaker CD stereo and air conditioning.
