1979 Pontiac Firebird

Automobiles

The body was completely restyled for 1979, with a new aerodynamic front end, a revised rear end spoiler, larger flares for the Trans Am and a revised connected single taillight assembly design that remained consistent for the rest of the Firebird's design. A limited edition Firebird commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Trans Am, and Pontiac sold 116,535 Trans Ams in 1979, the highest in any Firebird model year, with two cars used as the pace cars of the Daytona 500.
