The Shadow and Sundance received a facelift in 1989, with the sealed beam headlamps discarded in favor of more aerodynamic composite units. While mechanically identical, the Sundance and the Dodge Shadow were differentiated by their front grilles and other detail styling, and the Sundance continued as a compact hatchback built at Sterling Heights.
