The third generation Tacoma went on sale in the United States from 10 September 2015 as the 2016 model. In 2016, 191,673 Tacomas were sold in the United States and Canada, and the double cab short bed trucks of the 2016 and 2017 model years were built in Tijuana. This was the first model year of the Toyota Tacoma (third generation, N300 to N330), 2016 to 2023, which took over from the Toyota Tacoma (second generation, N220 to N270); the 2017 model year follows it.
