Opel Monterey

Automobiles

The Opel Monterey was an off-road vehicle sold under the Opel name that Isuzu built from March 1992 to April 1999, sharing its body with the Isuzu Trooper II. Opel's sister company Vauxhall also offered it in Great Britain. Like the Opel Frontera it came as a three-door RS version and a five-door long version. In July 1998 it received a facelift with a friendlier and rounder front, a new dashboard, an upgraded interior and a revised engine range. Until then buyers could choose a 3.1 litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel of 84 kW or a 3.2 litre V6 petrol engine of 130 kW, and in 1998 these were replaced by a 3.0 litre common-rail turbodiesel of 117 kW or a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine of 158 kW. Four-wheel drive and a low-range reduction gear were standard, but there was no differential lock. Opel stopped importing the Monterey in April 1999, and from January 2000 Isuzu again distributed the Trooper in Germany itself.
