1955 Nash Metropolitan

Automobiles

Nash had merged with Hudson in 1954 and marketed the car as a Hudson Metropolitan in 1955, but demand never took off from the original level, mainly because the Metropolitan was slow by North American standards. The industrial designer Richard Arbib modified a 1955 Nash Metropolitan into the Astra Gnome, his vision of an automobile for the year 2000, shown at the 1956 New York auto show and on the cover of Newsweek.
