The Morris Eight was introduced in October 1934 as the model year 1935 car, a small family car inspired by the sales popularity of the Ford Model Y and closely following its styling. In September 1934 the bare chassis was offered for 95 pounds. Compared with the similarly priced but lighter and older Austin 7 the Eight was well equipped, with a full set of instruments and hydraulic 8 inch drum brakes.
