The Tredia of 1986 was in its fifth year, a subcompact sedan with a choice of naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.8 liter engines and a conventional five speed gearbox in many models, which gradually replaced the Super Shift. It was assembled in New Zealand from kits with about forty percent local content, including glass, upholstery, carpet and radiators. In Japan the Tredia was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.
