In November 2000 the Town Box received an early facelift as a result of market resistance, with a redesigned front clip with more conventional headlamps, and the rear seat was replaced by a typical split folding bench, with the parking brake handle moved to the usual position between the seats. The Town Box Wide, with a 4A31 engine of 75 PS and six seats, also had its handbrake moved in 2000. The Town Box Wide was also built in Malaysia as the Proton Juara.
