The Pajero Mini of 2005 was in its eighth year as the second generation, a kei SUV with a redesigned front fascia since the 2003 facelift. It was a miniature of the larger Pajero, fitted with a 660 cc four cylinder gasoline engine, and offered in two wheel drive or four wheel drive, as well as in the VR-S variant added in 2003. The Pajero Mini was sold at a specific retail chain called Galant Shop. Compared to the full-sized original, the kei vehicle was considerably smaller and was fitted with 660 cc four-cylinder gasoline engines.
