The Minica of 2000 was in its third year as the eighth generation, with a 657 cc three cylinder engine, optional four wheel drive and a lean burn variant using the Vertical Vortex system that lowered fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by about ten percent. The generation was exported in small numbers as the Minica Towny, sold in Singapore, Hong Kong and some Caribbean markets. The Mitsubishi eK is a kei-car which is the direct successor of the Minica.
