For 2008 the trimming of models left the Ralliart as the only V6 model, and the Galant skipped the 2008 model year in Canada, only to return in 2009 with the facelifted model. A localized Australian version, the Mitsubishi 380, was still manufactured until 2008. The Galant was built at Normal, Illinois, in its fifth year of the ninth generation. The name Galant comes from the French word for chivalrous. The Galant evolved from a compact sedan into a mid-size car over its life.
