The fifth generation Eterna appeared in May 1992 as a four door sedan only, and with the Galant it moved into the three number plate class. It advertised the V6 engine and the wide body, as the Galant did, and had the INVECS four speed automatic with fuzzy shift as well. A Malaysian maker later built this generation as the Proton Perdana under an OEM arrangement. The Eterna was a sister car of the Galant, sold at the Car Plaza stores of Mitsubishi while the Galant was sold at the Galant stores.
