A tall height minivan version of the eK with rear sliding doors, called the eK Space, appeared in 2014 and went on sale on 13 February 2014 with its Nissan twin, the Dayz Roox. It was the second jointly developed model of Nissan and Mitsubishi, a super height wagon kei car, and the Roox was sold under that name until 2020. The eK name is an abbreviation for excellent keijidosha and is meant to be pronounced ee kay. The third generation eK was the first major design update since the eK began sales.
