In 2009 the eK was in its fourth year as the second generation, a kei car sold with its sliding door on the passenger side and with the Nissan Otti as an OEM twin. The rebodied Toppo that shared its underpinnings had gone on sale in September 2008, and the eK stayed on sale in the eK Wagon and eK Sport forms. The eK name is an abbreviation for excellent keijidosha and is meant to be pronounced ee kay. The second generation eK Wagon was sold by Nissan as the Otti.
