The last Eclipse was manufactured on 16 August 2011, painted Kalapana Black, a colour chosen by Mitsubishi's Facebook community from a historical palette. At the end of August 2011 the final Eclipse was auctioned for charity, with the proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross to aid victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The Eclipse had been built by the Normal, Illinois plant since the Diamond-Star Motors days.
