Four wheel drive became an option on the Cordia in Japan in 1984, and in Australia an update called the AB series arrived with a new grille and a better interior. The Australian GSR Turbo with the 4G62T eight valve engine and electronic injection went on sale in the middle of 1984, and a United States version with a 2.0 liter engine of 88 hp was sold for the 1984 model. The Cordia used front-wheel drive and was similar in design to the Mirage, with the exception of its larger size.
