The Toyota Veloz is a twin of the Toyota Avanza that was spawned in 2021. The Veloz name was already used for the flagship grade level of the Avanza in some markets between 2011 and 2021, and it is taken from the Spanish word veloz, meaning fast. The GR Limited variant of the Veloz grade was launched on 9 August 2021 and replaced the regular model. For the third generation, production in Indonesia is split between the Daihatsu plant in Sunter for the Avanza and Xenia and the Toyota plant in Karawang for the Avanza and Veloz. The Bangladesh market Veloz was launched with the Avanza and Raize on 5 June 2022 in a sole variant with a 1.5 litre 2NR-VE engine and a CVT, and the Malaysian market Veloz has been fully manufactured in Malaysia since 2022 on the line it shares with the Perodua Alza.
