The Toyota Raum is a five seat mini MPV that first appeared in May 1997, with a second generation released in May 2003, and it was sold only in Japan at Toyota Netz retail sales channels. The name is German for chamber, space or room and stresses the vast amount of space the car holds for its size. The front doors open conventionally while the rear doors slide open rearward and interlock with the front doors, leaving no door pillar between them on the passenger side. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation, XZ10 (1997 to 2002); the second generation, XZ20 (2003 to 2011).
