The Zafira B was the second generation of the Opel Zafira, which debuted in Europe on 12 February 2005, with sales starting on 9 June 2005. It shared the platform and mechanical parts with the Opel Astra H. It was sold as the Vauxhall Zafira in the United Kingdom, the Chevrolet Zafira in Chile and Mexico, and the Opel Zafira in Europe, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and South Africa. The engine line was partly carried over from the previous generation, with Fiat Multijet 1.9 L common rail turbodiesels replacing the 2.0 and 2.2 turbodiesels, and a turbocharged 2.0 L version from the Opel Performance Center. Replaced by the Zafira C at the end of 2011, it stayed in production until May 2014 as the Zafira Family.
