In 1978 the Mini was one of the key cars made available to disabled motorists under the new Motability scheme, giving the small car a new role in the British market. The Mark IV Mini was in its third year, and the lower end of its range was altered the following year, in July 1979, while the 20th anniversary was being prepared. The Mini had been the Mini marque for nine years by then. It was sold in several versions, including the Clubman.
