From 1995 to 2001 the first generation Mercury Villager was marketed by Chinese auto manufacturers through the use of CKD kits, such as the Yunbao YB6480 by Guangzhou Yunbao, which retained its Mercury badging. The Villager used a 112.2 inch wheelbase on the Ford VX54 platform, which is an evolution of the Nissan Maxima chassis, and was produced as a passenger van in a single body length. Nissan sold the same van as the Quest.
