The Sable received another redesign in late 1999 for the 2000 model year, minimising some of the oval design elements of the 1996 model and replacing them with more conventional styling. The redesign also featured a taller roof over the rear passenger space to increase headroom that had been sacrificed by the tapered 1996 design. Certain interior elements were retained, such as the integrated control console, with a more conventional shape.
