For 1963 the S-55 model line was expanded to include four door hardtops, and the previous notchback roofline was replaced by the Breezeway design with a reverse slant retractable rear window, while the Marauder semi fastback hardtop version continued. As in other Ford vehicles the 406 V8 was replaced by a 427 cubic inch engine rated at 410 or 405 horsepower. Mercury discontinued the S series line after 1963.
