1968 was the last year of the second Park Lane generation, positioned at the top of the full size Mercury range above the Montclair. In 1969 the Mercury Marquis was expanded to a full model line and replaced the Park Lane in the Mercury range, and the Montclair was discontinued and repackaged as the Monterey Custom. The 1968 Park Lane was a hardtop and sedan on the 123 inch wheelbase. The second generation Park Lane topped the Mercury line above the Monterey and the reintroduced Montclair.
