For 1969 Mercury debuted an all new generation of its full size line, with sedans on a 124 inch wheelbase and station wagons on 121 inches. The division pared its range to the Marquis, which completely replaced the Park Lane, and the Monterey, with a renamed Monterey Custom replacing the Montclair. The Monterey was more rounded than before and distinguished from the Marquis by lacking hidden headlights. Its model years run from 1969 to 1974.
