Mercury Monterey (1955 to 1956)

Automobiles

For 1955 the Monterey lost its status as Mercury's top model, replaced by the Montclair, and was positioned above the base model Custom series. It gained the 292 cubic inch Y block V8 from the Thunderbird, with an independent ball joint front suspension and a larger brake size. For 1956 it received a 312 cubic inch V8 and an exterior revision that traded the crest badge for a Big M emblem. Its model years run from 1955 to 1956.
