The 2006 Montego was the second year of the third generation, a full size sedan marketed between the Milan and the Grand Marquis, and the Mercury counterpart of the Ford Five Hundred. It replaced the mid size Sable after the 2005 model year, together with the Milan, which was launched in 2006. The Montego was a front wheel drive or all wheel drive sedan built on the Ford D3 platform. The third generation Montego was a full size sedan, the Mercury counterpart of the Ford Five Hundred.
