For the 1985 model year the Marquis underwent a minor exterior revision, with revised taillamps and a centered crest emblem replacing the Mercury lettering in the grille. During the 1985 model year the Marquis LTS was introduced, sold only in Canada as a counterpart of the Ford LTD LX with a 165 horsepower 5.0 liter V8 from the Mustang, and only 134 were produced. It was built on the rear wheel drive Fox platform with a 105.6 inch wheelbase.
