For the 2011 model year the Mariner featured HD Radio as standard, but continued with the same features as the 2010 models. The shortened 2011 model year of the Mariner was built after Ford announced the shelving of the Mercury brand in June 2010, and Ford ended production in October 2010, the last Mariner being assembled on 5 October 2010. It was Mercury's compact crossover SUV and the sibling of the Ford Escape. The second generation Mariner remained on the Ford CD2 platform shared with the Escape and Mazda Tribute.
