From 1948 to 1950 nominal tonnage ratings were replaced by a series designation in which the numbers indicate the gross vehicle weight rating, so the Mercury M series of 1949 had codes such as M 47. It was a rebadged Ford F Series sold mainly in Canada. It was sold mainly in Canada and followed the Ford trucks closely, differing largely in exterior trim. The Mercury M series was a line of trucks that Ford of Canada sold through Lincoln Mercury dealers, rebadged from the Ford F Series.
