The Ford Crown Victoria became available only for fleet sales beginning in 2008, leaving the Grand Marquis as the retail full size car. In the same year Mercury sold the Mercury Montego rebranded as the 2008 Mercury Sable, a full size sedan introduced in the 2000s. Chromed wheel covers were standard for 2008, and heated mirrors and rear air suspension were options until 2008. It was built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Southwold, Ontario, with the Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car.
