For 1970 the Cobra Jet model was dropped from the Cyclone lineup and applied to some of the engine names in the series, so Mercury featured the Cyclone, Cyclone Spoiler and Cyclone GT. The Cyclones consisted of 351 and 429 cubic inch V8 engines, with the standard engine of the base Cyclone a 429 four barrel with dual exhaust rated at 360 horsepower gross. For 1971 it was marketed as the Montego Cyclone. Its model years run from 1970 to 1971.
