The 2000 Cougar was available in a Special Edition in Zinc Yellow with a leather interior and yellow stitching on the seats. It was the first hatchback Cougar and the first to have its own body, unshared by any Ford except its European twin, in a New Edge design combining organic upper body lines with sharp concave creases in the lower areas. The Roush Edition, available mostly in white and silver, was built in 1999 and 2000.
