The 1964 Comet was redesigned with a much more square shape, though it was still built on the same unibody as the 1963 model. The success of the full size fastback roofline introduced in mid 1963 gave the Falcon and Comet two door hardtops a similar roofline with sharper corners. For 1964 Ford produced about 50 lightweight Comet Cyclones with a racing 427 engine, and for 1965 the Comet received updated styling with stacked headlights. Its model years run from 1964 to 1965.
