After the 1974 redesign of the Ford Capri, Lincoln Mercury commenced American sales of the Capri Mk II in 1975 as an early 1976 model, skipping the 1975 model year entirely and renaming the car the Capri II without formal divisional identification. As with the earlier Capri, it was fitted with quad sealed beam headlamps and grille mounted turn signals. A JPS Capri II and a Capri II S were offered in 1976 and 1977. The Capri II was a captive import built by Ford of Europe in Cologne.
