The #6 model of the FD began in October 2000, and the Type RZ limited edition, limited to 325 cars, came out in the same month. The Type RZ included everything on the Type RS but at a lighter weight of 1,270 kilograms, with gunmetal BBS wheels and a red racing interior, and an improved ABS system that braked each wheel differently. The car was still sold only in Japan. In Japan Mazda also sold the car through its Efini brand.
