Mazda introduced a convertible version of the RX-7, the FC3C, in 1987 for Japan. The Turbo II was on the Car and Driver 10 Best list for a second time that year, and the RX-7 made the list again in 1987. In Japan a limited edition Infini RX-7 began, with production limited to 600 cars a year, the first Series I appearing in 1987. The independent rear suspension had toe control hubs that gave a little passive rear steering under cornering loads.
