1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Automobiles

The first generation MX-5 was built until 1997, and the second generation NB was unveiled that year, to be sold from 1998. Over its life the NA had sold 228,961 cars since the 1989 introduction in Chicago. It had won Automobile of the Year in 1990 and Car and Driver 10Best honors in 1990 to 1992, and it had given Mazda a small, light and inexpensive roadster at a time when almost no one else made one. A longitudinal truss called the Powerplant Frame joins the engine to the differential.
